This version of the game was fabricated from pure evil and cruelty by its developers!The is quite long and you start of with a sackful of lives, but there are no checkpoints in the game. So when you are hit or misjudge a jump, its back to the start of the level. Ok, most games are like that its called a challenge.... While watching the Vexation's Grim Fandango LP I tried to think of some other games which would be more entertaining to watch without somebody jibber jabbering over it, and this was the first game to come to mind. Uzu Keobukseon ia a Korean shoot em up translated as Space Turtle Ship and it isn't actually that bad and is certainly better than some of the taito and teoplan ports of some games. The music is a little weak but the game is fun with armour and actual weapon upgrades. You always have 2 weapons but they are both upgraded to something new each time you collect enough power ups and you boat/ship also upgrades its armour. taking a hit reduced your power up level. Space Harrier II, one of the launch games for the Sega Mega-Drive. The game runs at a pretty low framerate which doesnt help your shot accuracy ;) Its safe to say if this game had come out a year later, the devs would have better knowledge of the hardware to make the game near arcade perfect. I quite like space invaders extreme on my psp but its a damned hard game. This ds one seems a bit easier, well..at least until extreme mode. Its a good and fun version of the game. Sometimes I seem to lose my shot Chain when going into the bonus rounds which annoy me. as it stops me getting an S rating at the end of the round. This is more of a mini play then a longplay. The game like the arcade original is endless, so you'll have seen pretty much everything the game has to offer durring the opening stage. I start of showing Score attack challenge mode 3d which is just 1 stage. Then I show abit of classic 2d space invaders PartII arcade, followed by the same in 3D mode. The game starts out interesting but soon starts to become repetitive. With 100 levels to get through, the slow gameplay, uninteresting power ups and bosses that seem to get progressively less interesting it just feels like it was all for nothing with no real ending. I then jump into the fray again in the unlocked maniac mode, but other than faster gameplay, nothing much changes although I do lose some lives towards the end. Master System Port of Space Invaders 91 the Arcade game.Probaby the best of the 8 bit ports as it moves fluently and has pretty much all the abilities and levels of the bigger 16bit ports. I first play through the Advanced game which goes through all levels before the final bossfight and ending. Conversion of the arcade laserdisc original to the Sega CD. It's a short game when you know what to do but damn is it difficult. You pretty much need to know what moves to press before the following scene plays else you don't have enough time to react especially towards the end of the game. Sequel to the already great game Space Invaders Extreme. This time with more visuals to distract you, item drops to distract you and bonus rounds which run along side the normal gameplay and to top it off, more fiendish bosses as if the game isnt already hard enough on the little ole ds screen. Again some really nice arcady visuals, music and sfx throughout.I play pretty badly, just wiping out the levels as fast as I can to make it through while keeping my chain count high. S Rating... Space Squah Being in Japanese I had no idea what was going on in the game. Before each level you can select what your special power up will be, so I just had to select as random. Had I read the faq first, I would have known what I was selecting, and the boss battles would have gone much smoother. This is a 2D video of the game Space Harrier 3-D on the master system which utilized the Sega Scope 3D glasses. This recording is also using native PSG audio.This is quite a difficult version of the game. Enemy fire can get you within 4 rendered frames (not counting lag frames) which doesnt give you alot of time to move. Moving is one thing you need to do constantly though as the enemy always fires at the point you are when they fire. I think the number of ground obstacles are also... As a fan of the Wing Commander games, this has been along time comming but I think it was worth it. Its a good port thats geared towards the sega-cd's strenghts rather then a just hope for the best approach of monkey island. It is more colourful then the Amiga 500 version and also faster due too the systems dual 68000's. The original Space Quest was an attempt by two Sierra programmers to create a parody of both science fiction and adventure games, and it worked. It worked well. It may have worked TOO well. The game spawned no less than five sequels and developed a huge following among adventure game fans.
